What is Involved In Joint Therapy?
Joint therapy is important in many aspects of the physical rehabilitation procedure after a total hip replacement. Not only does joint therapy strengthen muscles around the joint location, but contractures are prevented that can cause scarring of tissues around the joint from inactivity. Various forms of exercises are practiced by the patient under instruction of your physical therapist here at Trinity Orthopedics that will help you get right back on track.
Mild joint therapy is oftentimes practiced on the first day after surgery to begin the process of physical rehabilitation. Exercises such as walking, stepping and climbing are performed throughout the treatment to help build strength in the muscles and allow proper surgical recovery. Some degree of discomfort is felt in the beginning of the treatment; however, this discomfort will subside over time as the exercises will relieve the tension and provide lasting benefits to your joints that will help you regain your life back once again.
